We knew when Taylor Swift dropped her new horn-heavy single “Shake It Off,” the entire world would launch into utter chaos. For the first time in a long time, the pop enchantress would be making headlines for all the right reasons.
Gone are the days when the singer’s every flirtatious chance meeting with a male suitor became the talk of the town. Nowadays, her music does the shouting from the mountain top.
“Shake It Off,” the delicious, hater-blasting lead-in to her fifth studio set 1989, has now entered flash mob territory. (We knew it was only a matter of precious time…)
The video clip (above) is set in the Raising Cane’s diner and has already notched over 350,000 views. In case you are wondering who the exuberant, cheery dancers are, that would be members of the Dimensions Dance Company. On Aug. 21, the crew invaded the Lewisville, Texas hot spot and treated customers with an electric performance set to Swift’s perfectly sun-baked pop song.
In the way of the song’s forthcoming sales report, “Shake It Off” is looking to move well north of 475,000 digital copies by the end of the tracking week on Sunday, Aug. 24. Swift is set to perform the song during the MTV Video Music Awards, which will ultimately supplement her already incredible projections.
The former country darling first announced the new single (as well as the accompanying music video) on Monday, Aug. 18. Popdust peeked in on the delightful 30-minute live-stream event.
